As we close one decade and begin another, I hope you got a chance to recharge and spend precious time with family and friends. Here’s to a great start on a new decade, with both feet firmly on the ground, with energy and passion for what you do and a crystal-clear vision for the year that will bring you abundance and prosperity.  Wisdom from others helps, so I’ve compiled some quotes for you about change.

This is a time for reflection and planning. I noticed there was a lot of change in my life in one short year. And every year keeps getting shorter, although the calendar reminds me there are still twelve months and 365 days.  It got me to thinking about change.

I was talking with my best friend about how many changes we’ve been through in our lifetimes—and how this coming year is poised to be another big year for change. Looking back, I couldn’t think of a year that didn’t have a lot of change. Some good, some not so good.

My friend hates to change. She looked at me and said, “I don’t know how you do it. You seem to manage change so well. I wish I could learn how to do better when things change.” I smiled and replied, “It’s a choice to think about change in a different way, so it doesn’t derail you.”

Life happens! It is ever-changing. Sometimes the change confuses us or confounds us, and it always will help us to grow IF we listen and learn from the change.

change quotes: change is hard and you get better.  Change Can Be A Good Thing

As life changes, it’s another time you can find inspiration from the wisdom of others. For instance, as I scroll through my Facebook News Feed and read the books I love, the words of people I follow, and respect, inspire me.  People such as Dr. Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay. Rumi was a smart one, for sure. And there are many others. And, sometimes the ones I love the best are from my favorite author—unknown.

These are quotes about change that will inspire you through your life transitions. Some may make you think. Some may uplift you. While others may unnerve you. My intention is that they will act as a reminder to turn wishful thinking into motivated action.

If I’ve learned nothing else about change, I know for sure that sitting still is not an option. The change will hold me back if I don’t consciously choose to move with it.

Just for the fun of it, I’ve shared my own comments with each one… my interpretation or just a thought. I’d love to hear from you—which do you wholeheartedly agree with? Which are you vehemently opposed to? Got a favorite?  Please share in the comments below.

Change Quotes: Change in General  Change in General

“Change is the only constant.”  ~ Heraclitus

An oldie but a goodie; a truth bomb!

“If you don’t create change, the change will create you.”  ~ Author Unknown

If we allow it, change can take over and make us into someone we’re not happy with. Stepping in and taking control to create the right change for us would be a better approach.

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist or accept responsibility for changing them.”  ~ Denis Waitley

Smart guy, this Denis. When things are not working as they exist, there’s nothing left to do but change them. Otherwise, we get stuck, just go through the motions and wallow in our own stuck-ness.  And sometimes, it is hard to ask for help when we need it.  This is one of those times—it is easier to climb out of the rut when someone reaches her hand out to pull you up.

Change quotes: adapting to change takes a new perspective.  When We Change

“All appears to change when we change.”  ~ Henri Frédéric Amiel

By definition, if things around us are changing and we are accepting of it, then we must also be changing, right?

“Every new day is another chance to change your life.”  ~ Author Unknown

Whether we like it or not. Whether we’re ready or not. The opportunity is there if we choose to take it.

“If you focus on results, you will never change.  If you focus on change, you will get results.”  ~ Jack Dixon

This is one of my favorites. I understand this to mean, focus on the right things and you will grow through the change, getting results.

“Some people thrive on huge, dramatic change. Some people prefer the slow and steady route.
Do what’s right for you.”
~ Julie Morgenstern

It depends on the situation.  Sometimes you may need the huge, dramatic kind of change in order to motivate you, and other times it feels much better to go slow and steady so as not to get overwhelmed.

Change quotes: stretch more than you can reach.  Stretch More Than You Can Reach

“Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.”  ~ Albert Einstein

I believe acceptance allows us to see new possibilities. We stop fighting, relax and open ourselves to change.

“It’s not because things are difficult that we dare not venture. It’s because we dare not venture that they are difficult.”  ~ Seneca

This one hits home — is your comfort zone very comfy! I do make things more difficult than necessary for myself, sometimes. When I put one foot in front of the other and step outside my comfort zone, more often than not I discover that it isn’t so bad or so hard after all. Here’s to stepping out!

“Many fine things can be done in a day if you don’t make that day tomorrow.”  ~ Author Unknown

Ah, yes… procrastination. Who hasn’t mastered this at some time in their life? When change happens and we’re not sure what to do with it or about it, we often procrastinate hoping it will go away or get easier. I had a Ph.D. in procrastination some years ago. Thankfully it’s one of the things I’ve learned to manage, so I can get things done. Now I teach time and life management.

Change quotes: Is it time for a change?  Choosing Change

There are so many other great words of wisdom about change that I could share—I’ll leave those for another time. Writing this blog post actually did the trick for me.

Are you equally inspired to start tomorrow with a fresh perspective and face the dragons of change head-on?

Here’s one more favorite quote from a very wise woman, Helen Keller —

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

It’s a good reminder that, as I start tomorrow, I need to reach out to those who can help me slay the dragons.

I’m a big believer in support networks, coaches and accountability partners—do you have yours? As you start tomorrow, think about who can help you move your mountains, brainstorm with you to figure out solutions and celebrate with you when you conquer your own dragons.

I hope these words of wisdom about change will help motivate you!  But changes are hard, so you may like some help.

Change Quotes: CTA - thinking about making a change?  Thinking About the Possibilities?

If you are not living the life you love, perhaps something needs to change.  Maybe you’re not sure what or how.  You may even be thinking, “no one gets what I’m going through, so there is no help.”  Or, you may think, “I’m sure someone can help but I’m afraid to ask for it.”

Making choices to move through life changes can be hard and getting some guidance may be just what you need.  Let’s have a chat and talk about how to get you to the other side so you can love yourself more and create a life that loves you back!  Request your chat with María.
