It’s the start of another new year and, if this one goes by as fast as the last one, I’m going to need a lot of inspiration to get done everything I want to do this year.  So I thought about how I can rally that inspiration for myself.  I love music that moves me to sing or dance or just sit quietly and ponder.  And I am moved by photographs and paintings that stir my emotions — they may make me smile or feel sad.  Or, they may draw me in to the point where I can feel the sun or the sand, feel the cool breeze or hear the purr.

Immersing myself in music or images brings me to a calm place where I can feel happy and quiet.  It’s in this state that I find my inspiration.

What inspires you to find that quiet place inside where you can hear your inner wisdom — your soul talking to you?

What do you do when you are inspired?

Now when I get inspired, I leap into action.  It wasn’t always that way.  When I’m moved to do something, I make a plan and chart the course that will get me there — one step at a time.  Going through life’s journey and facing the tough situations that caused massive changes, like my divorce, taught me to find inspiration anywhere I could.  I learned that wallowing in my misery didn’t help and I didn’t feel good about myself.

That’s when I discovered the things that inspire me to move.  That’s when I wrapped myself in those things so I could feel safe to move.  Surrounding ourselves with inspiring people, things and activities will go a long way to improving our state of mind, our state of heart and our state of being.

There are only two mistakes we can make on the road to discovering ourselves … not going all the way and not starting.

Sharing some inspiring images that may get you started …

Since you can’t hear my favorite music on this blog, I thought I’d share some images that may inspire you as they have me.  I’ve written a caption under each one about how it makes me feel or what I might say.  I would love to hear from you if you have a different caption or a different thought.  Leave a comment below and let us know what inspires you.  And if you’d like to share another inspiring image with a caption, I’d love to see it!
